News from the Grace Children Home

'Buy-a-buffalo' Scheme now closed!

Following on from the successful sponsorship scheme we gave friends the opportunity of donating a water buffalo to the GCH.

Click here to find out more about how this scheme enabled us to bolster the orphanage's livestock assets and raise awareness of our ongoing work at N.G.Palem in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

All necessary water buffalo now provided!

The first water buffalo to be provided for the Grace Children Home was arranged under the auspices of the buy-a-buffalo scheme. Thanks to the members of one church in the UK, a female buffalo, curiously to be named Trevor (!) was to be providing milk for the children at the home.

Further details at the aforementioned link above. Briefly though :

  • Buy-a-buffalo scheme was open to individuals, groups and organisations
  • One-off cash donation purchased one animal for the home
  • You got to name the animal which then has the name applied in eco and animal-friendly paint! (photo provided)
  • Prices varied between £200 - £300.
  • As well as providing for the GCH, excess output is now sold to the local equivalent of the milk marketing board, thus providing further vital funds for the work of the home.
